The Puppy
Project
A project aiming to make children in Hong Kong happier with animals.
We want to address the issue of the mental health of children and teenagers in Hong Kong. Many children feel unhappy or neglected, especially those children currently living in orphanages. We also want to address the issue of many dog shelters in Hong Kong being underfunded and running out of essential supplies, and having trouble taking care of the animals under their care. Many owners of dog shelters use their own money to fund these shelters.
What
are the
issues?
Many children currently living in orphanages do not feel loved or happy.
Many children in Hong Kong have parents that work long hours and do not have a lot of time to spend with their children.
Many dog shelters in Hong Kong are struggling to keep going as they are running out of funding.
Our Project:
We are currently planning to host arts and crafts as well as cooking workshops to make dog toys, treats and other simple supplies for a local Hong Kong dog shelter we are in contact with. The arts and crafts workshops are to stimulate the children's creativity and to inspire them. In the future, we would like to host activities where children could actually play and interact with the dogs. The activities are also designed to provide support for the dog shelter.

Get involved:
Volunteer
Volunteers can get involved with our project by helping out in our sessions with the children. There are no language specifications. However, we are looking especially for people who speak Cantonese since our team members do not speak cantonese. People who are passionate about dogs and have knowledge about dog toys and dog treats are also welcome to help us in making these things!
